The Lord of the Rings Audible版
つい先日、僕の最も気に入っていた朗読CDがAudibleで購入できるようになっていたたのを見つけて嬉しくなり、少しだけ紹介する。2002年発売のCDボックスセットは40枚前後あるCDを取り込むのが余りに面倒で、ここ10年間は聴いていなかった。
『指輪物語』の原語版かつ非要約版(unabridged)の朗読は他に出ているのか僕は知らないが、これが有れば他を探す必要はない。朗読者はRob Inglis。程よい抑揚でリズムも良く、かつお爺さん声(多分)なので実に落ち着く朗読である。原作ファンや原作が気になっている人で英語で『指輪』に触れたいという人には一押しである。多分、英語を目で追って読むよりずっと楽に頭に入ってくると思う。
全部で50時間を超えるこの朗読が長すぎるという人には、BBCのラジオ版もおススメ。役毎に演者が異なり、場面場面で効果音や音楽が入るドラマ化であり、映画よりは原作寄りだと感じた。放送は確か80年代だったと思う、其れなりに雰囲気が古くは有る。が、『指輪』自体が古典であり、違和感は特に感じなかった。こちらは全部で十数時間。
